Please keep in mind that the following websites may contain churches that are not
independent Baptists. These sites are a great tool, though, for finding church websites
in order to find its doctrine and philosophy of ministry.
Home on the Range...or Home on the Road?
Will you decide to continue renting / paying for a home or be “Baptist gypsies” living in your vehicle? I have met missionaries that spent three years on deputation without a home and others who always had a place of their own to come back to in-between meetings. Before making a decision, the following information and thoughts may be helpful. (Read article...)
Enjoying Your Pre-field Ministry
Hopefully no missionary would desire to be on deputation indefinitely, but this
does not mean we should drudge through it either. The heart’s desire is to get to
the mission field as quickly as possible, which it should be. If we are not careful,
though, we will be so focused on ministering in the future that we fail to minister
in the present. (Read article...)
Transportation Ministries:
To Bring, or Not to Bring...
That is the question. What should you bring for your travels on deputation and/or
furlough? This list needs your input, too. Write us and let us know what you would
recommend to pack. (Read article...)
Ways to Save Money:
- Don’t get into debt.
- Use credit card with cash-back (the BP VISA card gives 5% cash back on all gas purchased
at BP stations, which really adds up on deputation)
- Use hotel coupon book. These can be picked up at rest areas in the state you need
to spend the night.
- Don’t be materialistic. This is a heart issue but one that needs addressed before
reaching the mission field. Focus on buying what you need.
- Have an automatic savings plan. Different financial institutions, like ING, have
an option of automatic withdrawal from a checking account into a separate savings
account.
- Take advantage of “Kids Eat Free” specials or other discounts at restaurants. (more
info)
- Have health insurance or health savings account for the unexpected emergency.
